Introduction

Welcome to the home of Rockforge Racing, a Surrey based motorcycle race team established four years ago as a springboard for young UK based riders. Our aim is to promote and assist the riders within the British Superbike Championship, in the hope of them reaching the higher levels of the sport. The team principal, Rhys Boyd, says; "I have seen so many talented riders drop out of racing due to mis-management or a lack of funding and our team was founded on the desire to do something about this. On a personal note, 2007 heralded my twenty-first year within the sport and during that time have won championships, broke lap records and had my fair share of the highs and lows associated with top level motorcycle racing. I have seen gifted riders miss out on their dreams by one point and others become champions. The step from rider to team owner was for me a natural transition".

At Rockforge Racing, we have the depth of knowledge and commitment to showcase any brand within this competitive environment. Our team personnel include individuals who have been involved in this field for over 30 years and staff with proven track records. With years of first-hand experience in the sport, our team is well placed to attract the best new talent and collectively, have the desire to win championships.

The 2008 Race Bike

The team will be utilising the latest Yamaha YZF-R1 for this year's Superstock Championship and believe that they are well equipped for competition and our team rider will be aiming to make the most of their efficiency. They are road-going machines with only regulated changes allowed for the entered superstock class. The removal of lights and indicators is immediate, followed by racing upgrades to the rear sets, brake pads and brake fluid. The rear shock is upgraded, race exhaust installed and standard bodywork replaced with a race prepared version. The original forks must be used but with inner spring changes if desired. There can only be minimal changes to the working mechanics of the bikes and for the 2008 season, there is the regulated use of Atol racing fuel. The return of the infamous 'pink bike' promises a competitive race machine with looks to match.
